Direct payment clients

If you receive Direct Payments/have a personal budget to meet your care needs, you can buy our services directly, providing that this forms part of your agreed care plan. You can get advice about this from the Direct Payment Support Team at the council.

Independent organisations who may be able to give you more advice about Direct Payments include:

• National Centre for Independent Living - NCIL is a national support, advice and consultancy organisation that aims to enable disabled people to be equal citizens with choice, control, rights and full economic, social and cultural lives. Their website is designed to be a resource on independent living, Direct Payments and individual budgets for disabled people and others working in the field.
• The Department of Health has a range of information about Direct Payments.
• Mencap's Learning Disability Helpline - This is a helpline run by Mencap. You can speak to an advisor in the day, or leave a message day or night and someone will call you back. Or you can send them an email.
