Job description
Befrienders are responsible to the One to One Co-ordinator and report and liaise with him/her as necessary.
Roles and responsibilities are as follows:
Work to an agreed timetable with clients
Meet the social needs of individual clients
Liaise and co-operate with carers and share relevant information
Observe overall health and safety of self and client
Complete all necessary documentation
Report all concerns to the Co-ordinator
Report all incidents to the Co-ordinator
Treat clients and carers with respect, dignity, privacy, individuality and inform choice
Take into account abilities and aspirations of clients
Take account of customs, values and spiritual beliefs
Adhere to confidentiality at all times
Highlight any service training needs
Report any sickness, holidays or other absences
Inform client and carers of all absences, whether planned or not
Seek emergency services as necessary
Attend meetings and training as required by the Befriender Scheme
Present yourself acceptably in appearance and manner.

Befrienders must:
Perform all the duties of the job to the best of their ability
Do all in their power to promote, develop and extend One to One
Comply with the reasonable directions of the employer.
We look for people who understand and empathise with the scheme’s objectives, who have relevant experience (which could include experience of people with disabilities but this is not essential) and who can demonstrate a professional but friendly approach.
